This is the first snow thrower I’ve ever had so I don’t really have anything else to compare it to. All I can say is that it works great. I DID get some snow on my boots and I DID have to sweep my driveway afterwards with a broom, but that’s ok. Sweeping is much better than shoveling. The auger is a little oversized but that makes it pull the machine along easily, which is really nice when there’s 10 inches of snow on the driveway.
I’m not sure why people are getting so upset about oil. Just because the manual says one thing and the oil shipped is something different, doesn’t mean anything. Manufacturers always take the middle of the road when they’re recommending something. Just use the oil that comes with the snow blower and it will be fine. The only thing I don’t like very much is that it IS a bit noisy but as long as it works as great as it has so far, I can handle a bit of noise.

I got this snow thrower to help me get through our Northeast Ohio snow filled winters, and I haven’t regretted it one second since. This is one snow thrower that lives up to its promises. You won’t find anything for sale that goes through deep snow like this one does. It starts right up with the first pull all the time and it never even slows down or stalls out, even when I’m using it in heavy wet snow.
I use Royal Purple 10w30 and it’s worked out great for me. I tend to avoid those expensive factory fills when I can get highly superior synthetic ones. My only complaint is that mine didn’t come with a cable to start it electrically. However, that hasn’t been an issue since it’s always started with the first pull no matter how cold it is. I can’t recommend this snow thrower enough to people that live in areas with lots of snow.
